Event: In recognition of International Homeless Animals’ Day, Optalis Health & Rehabilitation of Kingsford is hosting a can drive to benefit Almost Home Animal Shelter. Those interested are invited to donate returnable cans through Friday, August 14. (Please drop cans off at the Activity office.) Money from the cans will be used to buy essential supplies, which will be delivered to the shelter on Saturday, August 15. This community effort provides an opportunity for everyone to come together in support of homeless pets and help provide the resources they need.

Event: FLOHAUS Gallery will host a benefit exhibition in recognition of International Homeless Animals’ Day focused on stray animals, rescue stories, and the human-animal bond. The gallery invites artists to submit works inspired by themes of rescue, compassion and companionship. Selected artwork will be presented through a physical exhibition at the gallery and an online exhibition on Artsy.

Event: Join Tri-county Animal Rescue Center, Pennsylvania and Lost In The Wilds Brewing for International Homeless Animals’ Day. Adoptable dogs will be visiting throughout the day, along with a bake sale, raffles, and many other family- and pet-friendly activities. A Blessing of the Animals will be held at 3 PM. All dogs must be leashed.

Event: Fox and Thistle will host a pet food collection drive on International Homeless Animals’ Day to benefit Stray Cat Central. Visitors are invited to drop off donations of Purina Meow Mix, Purina Puppy Chow, or Fancy Feast wet food for kittens to help local animals in need. Bring the whole family to enjoy stuffed animal giveaways, a pet portrait demonstration, and face painting—all while helping homeless animals in need.
